The stop to intramural activities "is applied where the ratio between the volumes of ordinary and freelance activities in public structures is not respected, or even in the event that intramural activity exceeds the conventional one in terms of number of services ".

This was stated by the regional health councilor Mario Nieddu, responding to the controversies of recent days arising from the decision to tighten the intramoenia activity to break down waiting lists .

“In all these cases - underlines Nieddu - re-establishing the right relationship means increasing the volume of ordinary activities with the consequent cutting of waiting lists. Because if it is true that the intramoenia activity is carried out outside the hours in which the institutional activity is carried out, it is also true that there are cases in which professionals, in the face of very few services rendered during working hours, accumulate a high volume of intramural services and this is unacceptable and is not contemplated by current legislation ".

It is up to the health authorities, continues the commissioner, "to ensure compliance with the balances provided for by the law and the implementation of plans for abatement of waiting lists".

Finally, says Niedd, " it is a paradox to argue that the stop to intramoenia leads to an increase in waiting lists ".
