Stomach Pain, cleanup mission: 100 volunteers with helicopter collect tons of waste

More than three quintals of waste arrived from the sea, collected by over one hundred volunteers who arrived on ten boats and also supported by a helicopter.

These are the numbers from the "Clean Up the Island 2026" operation conducted yesterday in Mal di Ventre, a paradise that should remain pristine but is instead threatened by pollution carried by the currents.

"The organization was complex," explains the mayor of Cabras, Andrea Abis. "Ten boats were involved in transporting the people, and a helicopter service was dedicated to transferring the large bags and an ocean buoy that had been beached for years to land."

With the Marine Protected Area, the mayor adds, "we are investing significant resources in marine protection and environmental awareness. A heartfelt thank you to the MPA operators, to the many volunteers who supported us, and to all the collaborators and supporters who made the operation possible."
