Invasion of jellyfish in the sea and on the sand of La Pelosa, the splendid beach of Stintino. Hundreds of brown umbrellas with a diameter of about ten centimeters, with eight stinging tentacles, were dragged onto the beach by the light waves of a calm and wonderful sea.

They partly covered the beach, arousing the curiosity of those who wanted to take a swim but instead had to give it up and preferred to stay safe. Many flocked to the beach to admire the show. There are those who simply took a walk to observe the carpet of jellyfish in and out of the water. Killing them constitutes a crime as established by article 544 ter of the Criminal Code: imprisonment from three to 18 months and a fine from 5 thousand to 30 thousand euros.

Some have made a report to the competent authorities. In spring, transported by the winds and currents, and when the waters are calm, the jellyfish return to La Pelosa, where the waters are crystal clear and the sand is very fine. The duration of their presence is not measurable, it is a periodic concentration caused above all by the rise in temperature of sea waters.
