The situation of state road 554. The anger of the mayors explodes. "It is an unsafe road, travel times have become unsustainable". The mayor of Selargius Pier Luigi Concu also recalls "the inconvenience for economic activities near the road and that the 554 is also crossed by emergency vehicles that have to reach the Policlinico di Monserrato and that often remain stuck in traffic".

The serious limitations of the 554 also affect the most distant municipalities such as Sinnai, Settimo San Pietro and Maracalagonis. The mayor of Sinnai Barbara Pusceddu explains that "in the most critical moments it takes an hour to reach Cagliari".

The project for the new 554, which involves the elimination of all traffic lights and the construction of new roundabouts, is stuck in Rome, at the Ministry of the Environment, for the environmental impact assessment. A very tiring process that began at the end of 2008.

From the mayors, very concerned about the current state road situation, they ask that the process for opening the first construction sites be speeded up.
