«Without the support of regional bodies , Arnas Brotzu risks default ». In Cagliari, the increase in tourists and the staff's unavoidable holidays weigh heavily on an already precarious situation. So the situation will continue to worsen until it implodes." The complaint comes from the USB Sanità trade unionist, Gianfranco Angioni .

The impact, we read in a press release from the acronym, is «a regional healthcare context which has suffered the closure over time of various departments of the local health authority hospitals , such as medicine, orthopaedics, emergency room, cardiology, hemodynamics, surgery. The healthcare staff, now already reduced to the bare bones compared to the needs of the healthcare settings, must also deal with a high number of patients coming from all over the regional territory. A desolate scenario as there is a lack of doctors of almost all disciplines, nurses, social health workers and administrative and technical staff."

«Moreover – continues Angioni – access to the emergency room, both adults and pediatrics, has increased exponentially. A dramatic situation in all departments and operating rooms. All the administration's efforts will be in vain without the necessary regional measures."

The solution – concludes the trade unionist – is only one: «The Region must immediately allow the expansion of the organic resources and increase the economic resources for the costs of the real personnel needs. Furthermore, considering that the Brotzu staff is the lowest paid in Sardinia, it is essential to re-determine the contractual funds. Without these measures there is a risk of irreversible implosion to the detriment of workers and patients. An unacceptable situation that must be avoided."
