Speranza Ponti , the 50-year-old from Uri found dead on January 31, 2020 by the Alghero carabinieri in Monte Carru, was shot in the face.

This is what emerges from the examination of the four experts working on the case. Traces of the woman had been lost almost two months earlier: for her death, comrade Massimiliano Farci, 55 from Assemini, sentenced to life imprisonment in 1999 for another murder, is accused.

The corpse of Speranza Ponti had been found in an advanced state of decomposition, exposed for a long time to atmospheric agents: the first analyzes on the body therefore did not allow to ascertain signs of violence, but the avulsion of two teeth, according to the four experts, leaves think that she has been hit at least once or that she has undergone an attempt at pressure between the neck and jaw.

The hypothesis was presented before the Assize Court of Sassari presided over by judge Massimo Zaniboni, alongside Sergio De Luca, to prosecutor Angelo Beccu, to the two lawyers of the civil party, the lawyers Stefano Carboni and Edoardo Morette, and to the lawyer who defends the accused, the lawyer Daniele Solinas. The four experts are Salvatore Lorenzoni, coroner of the Institute of Forensic Pathology of the University of Sassari, Danilo De Angelis, expert in Anthropology and Forensic Odontology of the University of Milan, Valentina Bugelli, forensic entomologist of the Aou di Careggi, in Florence , and Stefano Profili, manager of the complex operational unit of Radiology of the Aou of Sassari.

March 8 will be the turn of a witness cited by the prosecution, a soldier who worked post mortem to reconstruct the psychological profile of Speranza Ponti, and one cited by the plaintiffs, the victim's brother-in-law. Farci's examination will begin at the same hearing.
