The Sorso police seized the two-storey building in via Tuveri following the fire that caused the death of Mario Mulas , the 77-year-old pensioner, originally from the town, who was left charred in his home.

The measure was taken, at the disposal of the Sassari Prosecutor's Office, by the deputy prosecutor Maria Paola Masala, in charge of the investigation. The building caught fire in the night between Sunday and Monday, shortly after 4am, giving no escape to the pensioner who suffered 95% burns. The flames had invaded the apartment on the second floor of the building where the elderly man had been living for some time.

The Sassari firefighters together with the Sorso carabinieri and colleagues from the Porto Torres company are investigating the causes that sparked the fire. The most probable hypothesis is that of a short circuit caused by a household appliance, which started from an overloaded socket due to the use of a heater. The building was declared uninhabitable due to the flames which destroyed electrical sockets and furnishings.
