Autopsy on the body of Maria Loi, the 72-year-old woman who was hit by a garbage truck on Thursday morning in the forecourt of a petrol station, on via Cottoni, in the urban centre of Sorso.

The autopsy, scheduled for Monday, December 23 at the Institute of Forensic Pathology in Sassari, will be performed by the coroner Francesco Serra on the orders of the public prosecutor. The deputy prosecutor Maria Paola Asara, in charge of the investigation on the orders of the Sassari Prosecutor's Office, has entered in the register of suspects, as a necessary act, the driver of the heavy vehicle, a 61-year-old from Sorso, who has always declared that he did not see the woman from above the driver's cabin.

While waiting for the funeral, Mayor Fabrizio Demelas has declared a day of mourning for the city, starting on Friday, December 20, and until the end of the funeral ceremony. For the same period, he has decided to suspend all public entertainment events and, for the entire day of the funeral, to fly flags at half-mast in municipal buildings.
