Soleminis without a general practitioner, the mayor's letter: "Inconvenience reported, no response"

Open letter from the mayor of Soleminis Fedele La Delfa on the absence of a general practitioner in the village of Parteolla.

«Dear citizens, I'm sure you will understand that the no longer measurable quantity of reports delivered to my address, to complain about the inconvenience caused by the absence of the general practitioner, suggests adopting the form of the press release to ensure widespread dissemination of the information I have . Strongly concerned about the impossibility of seeing primary health care guaranteed in our municipal area, I promptly reported the inconvenience to the regional health system, in all its complex articulations, formulating questions and requesting clarifications that have not yet been received, above all to report with regard to the position taken both by the "Maximalist" doctors of the Area, and by the Medical Guards who, with increasing ease, declare themselves unable to ensure health services in continuity of care".

In the letter to fellow citizens, the mayor also adds that "as of 08/01/2023, there is not a single official response that provides relief to the growing difficulties , with the inevitable consequence of a strong disorientation, especially for Dr. Mariangela Pedditzi, orphaned from health care, with the exception of those lucky few who, selected using fickle and unofficial criteria, could be taken over by the newly identified temporary substitute Dr. Francesca Ferrante. Nor, out of institutional duty, can I omit to point out - with great amazement - how the Healthcare Company has decided to modify the expression of interest of 06/28/2023 during the course of the work which, created to identify the temporary Soleminis and Serdiana, excluded Soleminis and safeguarded Serdiana, causing a serious imbalance in the provision of a primary service, with inevitable repercussions of difficult governance".

«Until now, it has served no purpose to communicate to the Health Authority and with it to Dr. Ferrante, the availability, almost free of charge, of the former clinic of Dr. Pedditzi, kindly granted on a temporary basis by the owner of the the property, to deal with the emergency, while waiting for the Municipal Administration and the Healthcare Company to find, in agreement, a new definitive location: the proposal has been declined for the time being. For this and for a long series of reasonable reasons that I consider worthy of further study, I will request a hearing, already in the next few hours, to the Prefect, in order to represent him, as a Health Authority with powers-duties of control to protect public health , all the implications of the aforesaid inconvenience, connected to the interruption of the local health service since 07/01/2023, with the request to dispose of everything in its power in order to request the verification of the implementation status of the procedures for identifying the GP and their consequent effectiveness, by the top Structures, in order to reaffirm the full and inviolable guarantee of the right to primary care".
