The heat arrives in Sardinia and, right on time, here is the first alert bulletin from the regional civil protection.

Those forecast for tomorrow, Saturday 8 June, are defined as "adverse weather conditions".

«Very high maximum temperatures are expected», we read in the bulletin, «locally above 40 degrees in the western and northern sector of Sardinia».

It will be less hot, however, in the south of the island. In Cagliari, maximum temperatures are expected to be around 30 degrees.

«The European synoptic situation is characterized by the presence of a cyclonic system of polar origin between the Scandinavian peninsula and Iceland and a high pressure field that extends from Africa to the central-western Mediterranean», we read in the bulletin.

«In the Atlantic Ocean, close to the Strait of Gibraltar», the note continues, «another depression system is observed . The combined action of these baric structures is favoring the influx of cold air of polar origin over central-northern Europe and warm air of African origin over the western Mediterranean and the Iberian peninsula."

Starting from the next few hours the baric structures «will begin to move slowly eastward. Tomorrow the influx of hot air of African origin will thus affect the central-western Mediterranean and in particular Sardinia".
