This morning Verando Vinci passed away, an important piece of Macomer's economic history.

He was 94 years old, with a life dedicated to the growth of the large economic enterprise, founded by his father, Daniele, but made to grow and continued for years with the other three brothers, Marcello and Lelio (both long deceased) and then Lucio, still alive .

Verando Vinci was also an important piece in the city's sport: he played in the football team with the Giallorossi colors when he was still very young. One of his last public appearances was at the 100th anniversary party of Macomer Calcio.

«The passing of Verando Vinci saddens us - says the mayor, Riccardo Uda - with him a piece of history goes away. Together with his brothers he founded an economic empire, with supermarkets, which in the golden years, in Macomer, but also in other areas of Sardinia, gave work to hundreds of people."

An economic empire that then began to crumble with the kidnapping of his nephew, Giuseppe Vinci, son of his brother Lucio, in 1994.

The news of Verando Vinci's passing shook the entire town, especially the economic and sporting world.
