Matteo Lai , the 18-year-old boy from Sinnai who was seriously injured in a scooter accident in Tasonis on the day of Ferragosto, died after a week of agony.

The young man died at Brotzu Hospital, where he had been admitted with a guarded prognosis due to serious head injuries, and where doctors did everything they could to save his life. There was much hope, but news of his death spread quickly throughout the town this morning.

The boy was riding his scooter home when he lost control of the vehicle near the hamlet of Tasonis and ended up in a ditch. Another young man, intrigued by a shoe on the road, noticed the boy and stopped. Approaching the roadside, he saw the injured 18-year-old and immediately raised the alarm. Taken to Brotzu Hospital, Lai also underwent surgery. He died today.

Deep condolences surround a well-known and esteemed family . The legal investigations were carried out by the Quartu Carabinieri. No other drivers were found to be at fault.
