An extraordinary City Council to discuss the chain of arson attacks that have been hitting Siniscola for months. The last one just three days ago - the sixth since the beginning of the year - when a soldier from the Guardia di Finanza of Nuoro was targeted .
Mayor Gian Luigi Farris is calling his fellow citizens to gather in Piazza Don Migliorisi, asking for a large participation, and he is also announcing a torchlight procession to say “No to violence”: the event is scheduled for February 7th.
"I will be there and I will participate as the mayor, together with my council, but also as a simple citizen of Siniscola", says the mayor, " I want to be there and I plan to walk through the streets of the city together with many good people, all those who are no longer willing to tolerate this situation . In case of rain or severe bad weather, the session will be held in the council chamber".
Farris, to shake consciences, refers the thought to the dark years of Siniscola: «Those with white hair will remember the era in which low-yield bombs exploded to hit the goods or interests of targeted people . Back then, the shutter of a shop, the car of a police officer, a building under construction would blow up. It was the Seventies».
But he also thinks «of the chain of crimes, which 25 years ago, plunged our town into a nightmare that seemed never-ending», highlighting however how those tragedies were then followed by over two decades of serenity «during which we lived in safety, facing the problems that all communities must solve on a daily basis. Nothing made us feel vulnerable and potential victims of a gang of criminals, as unfortunately has been happening for a few months now».
The mayor, while renewing his trust in the police, speaks of a troubled citizen who is unable to explain these facts. "We are not afraid and it is good that these criminals understand this. We will not be intimidated and we will not lock ourselves in our homes. We will not allow our territory to become their amusement park for dangerous incendiary games."
