Extraordinary maintenance work has begun on Viale Europa, the former SS554 , one of Quartu's most important and busiest arteries, which every day sees thousands of vehicles, including commuters, residents, and motorists traveling to and from the coast. This work cannot be postponed, the Municipality announced, necessitating the condition of the road surface and the need to ensure the safety of all road users, pending the more radical renovation of the arterial road.

The construction site, which begins on Monday, October 26th, will last approximately ten days. It will begin with a preliminary phase of inspections, signage installation, and work area preparation. The actual asphalt work will then begin midweek, aimed at restoring the road to the necessary safety conditions.

To minimize traffic disruption, the works will be carried out in phases: first one section, then the other, with vehicles allowed to travel in a single lane. "The municipal administration is aware that, especially during peak traffic hours, delays and traffic jams may occur, and will take steps to minimize these problems. All motorists are asked to exercise patience, caution, and strictly obey all signs. We also recommend, where possible, exploring alternative routes or choosing less congested times for travel."

The project will cost the municipal coffers approximately €300,000. This is an additional outlay, which will result in the postponement of other works planned for the fifth lot of the framework agreement. "This is a necessary decision, dictated by the absolute priority of securing such a strategic infrastructure, according to the same criteria that guide all asphalt planning: giving priority to the roads with the highest levels of danger and traffic density."
