The commission of inquiry, envisaged by the regulations, was set up this morning, which will have to ascertain any responsibility for what happened yesterday afternoon in Silanus in the level crossing inside the town, where a car was hit by the train.

"Within a few days, the commission will carry out the due checks and draw conclusions - says the director general of Arst, Carlo Poledrini -, even if the dynamics of the accident appear quite clear".

For the general secretary of the CGIL Trasporti, Arnaldo Boeddu, the situation requires careful reflection. «Nothing should be underestimated - says Boeddu - the Nuoro Macomer line, at least in the stretches where it is possible, should be totally isolated from vehicular traffic. If it were not possible for the entire route, let's say that it is no longer possible to monitor all the level crossings with the presence of a person. Clearly we will have to proceed with the installation of automated level crossings ».

The outcome of the commission of inquiry is now awaited, while Arst is taking steps, according to the general manager, to make the entire route safe with automated level crossings, including barriers.
