Tempio judge Marco Contu acquitted Pasquale Serra of attempted murder.

The ruling not to proceed closes the case, because Serra – although deemed by an expert to be capable of understanding and willing at the time of the attack – was deemed irreversibly incapable of standing trial.

The man, 60 years old, had hit his neighbor Nela Codreanu in the head with a harpoon. The victim lost the use of one eye . The events occurred in June 2023 in Golfo Aranci.

Serra, defended by lawyers Pietro Carzedda and Antonia Mele, has always maintained that he was defending himself from an attack. Nela Codreanu was a civil party in the trial, represented by lawyer Cristina Mela.
