The dignity of the citizens of Isili nel Sarcidano, and of the many Sardinians who nobly revolted against the colonizers who, in the name of profit, and with public contributions, claimed to present the project for the wind farm to the grateful population " Perd'e Cuaddu", with ancillary works also in the municipalities of Nurallao, Nuragus and Genoni (electricity substation area), deserves all appreciation. Their protest, innocent and pure, must be supported by the President of an autonomous Region that cannot be subdued by a centralist and arbitrary will that puts the business activities of a private company before the defense of the landscape. The legendary landscape of Sardinia, admired all over the world.

Even just the juxtaposition of names of uncontaminated places for millennia, such as those remembered by "Perd'e Cuaddu", with "electrical substation" makes us understand the abyss between civilization and misery, between beauty and speculation. The Sardinian communities that have a monopoly on their traditions cannot tolerate any wind turbine where there is land, where there are pastures, where there is an admirable landscape. Also for the strongest reasons of an enchanted traveler who seeks (and for this reason comes to Sardinia) the integrity of places. And it should not be deceived or betrayed. Respect for administrations and the constitutional and statutory guarantees of the very concept of autonomy require that the State and the Region support the mayors and the rights of the populations because, as the mayor of Nuragus, Giovanni Daga said, «dignity is priceless, it is presumptuous to come to our house to tell us what to do.' This is colonialism. This is genocide. This is the defeat of autonomy.

How can we not expect shared pride from an autonomist president? There are no wind turbines in Trentino-Alto Adige. Furthermore, and above all, the elementary rules of democracy must guarantee the municipal councils the ability to decide within their territorial boundaries without impositions from above. Why vote otherwise? The mayors of Genoni, Nurallao, Nuragus, and Isili are the heroes who honor the Constitution, which cannot be bent by the fiction of clean energy, which is the disfigurement and looting of what is valuable precisely because of its integrity.

The Ministry of Culture intends, to the end, to defend the values expressed in article 9 of the Constitution, which explicitly speaks of the protection of the landscape also with the strengthening that imposes the enhanced protection of the environment, ecosystems and animals. It also intends to guarantee the democratic principles that govern the administration of the Municipalities, in dialogue with the Superintendencies for Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape. The landscape is a constitutional asset, but it is also the space for agricultural production and peasant civilization with its traditions, customs and arcane rites.

I therefore urge the mayor of Isili and the committees that have simply demonstrated their municipal pride, interpreting the spirit of traditions that make Sardinia sacred and that are rooted in the memory and culture of the people, to represent their position to the Ministry of Agriculture , without accepting green propaganda fictions that do not intend the conservation of territories and crops as a fundamental principle. As happened in Puglia and Sicily, the lands cultivated with olive trees and vines have become land to be sold, in the prevailing silence of the municipal administrators, to build wind farms and photovoltaic fields. Speculation without resistance has erased numerous landscapes of Italy, above all in the southern regions where the mafia's control and its conditioning are strong.

I was the first to denounce the affairs of Matteo Messina Denaro, later recognized by the judiciary, for the diffusion of wind farms with which he destroyed the Sicilian landscape. But private individuals and municipalities had not revolted, indulging in mafia practices. In Sardinia, finally, local administrators, aware citizens' committees, with the support of the free press, are rebelling and must be listened to and respected by the President of the Region. And they have to grow. Scream. Demand respect. It is a battle of legality, first of all. The violence to the landscape must stop.

From all over Sardinia, shrewd men write to me with sober indignation: "Hello Vittorio, Sardinia is about to become Italy's dumping ground for wind turbines. They will definitely ruin the landscape, the last available resource for us."

In the meantime, I reply and, taking care to activate the connection between the mayors, the committees, the Sardinian citizens and the Ministry of Agriculture, I invite the mayors in the trenches in the threatened areas for protection initiatives and legislative proposals, on Monday 9 October , at 11.30, at a meeting at the Ministry of Culture in Rome, to defend the pride and hope of communities that intend to preserve their identity.

As the anthem of the Sassari brigade says:

“Sa fide nostra

No pay dinars

Aioh! dimonios!

Come on come on paris”

Undersecretary for Culture
