New case of a vessel inspected and stopped at the port of Oristano. After the two merchant ships of last week , yesterday the Port State Control personnel of the Coast Guard did the same with a vessel coming from the port of Alexandroupoli, in Greece, with the Palau flag and loaded with grain.

The first checks carried out immediately revealed problems with the proper functioning of some on-board systems and lifeboats . The inspection then continued with the simulation of a serious fire on board, which also in this case led to the discovery of problems with the emergency equipment and to verify, in addition, that the crew members were not adequately trained.

The ship was then detained in port until the minimum safety conditions were restored and until a new inspection, with a favorable outcome, by the Port State Control personnel of the Port Authority. As a further measure, considering the three detentions suffered by the ship in the last two years, it was automatically banned from the ports of the European Union for the next three months . The inspection is part of the Coast Guard's activity of checking vessels arriving at the port of Oristano.
