Five young people from Selegas, accompanied by the parish priest Don Gabriele Casu, are living the experience of the mission of Pawaga, in Tanzania, experiencing first-hand the reality of one of the poorest regions in the world . The group left on Wednesday 8 January to live a two-week adventure, in a context that will make the values of solidarity and sharing even more tangible. They are guests of Don Carlo Rotondo, Fidei Donum Missionary of the Diocese of Cagliari, who has been engaged in the front line of the mission for years.
The initiative is also a testimony of concrete commitment by the entire parish community. During the Christmas holidays, in fact, the citizens participated in an extraordinary collection to support a fundamental project for the new maternity hospital in Pawaga, recently inaugurated thanks to the implementation of an ambitious program promoted by the association "Admiss - Amico della Missione". In particular, the great generosity of the people of Seleghe made it possible to donate an incubator for the neonatal department, essential for saving the lives of children born prematurely or with breathing difficulties.
The kids involved are living a unique experience, made of meeting, discovery and personal growth. The Pawaga mission, although small, is a beacon of hope in a region where daily difficulties are many : from health shortages to scarcity of resources, from poverty to the challenge of educating and sensitizing the population. But it is also a place where every gesture of help has the power to change the destiny of many people.
The missionary journey, although short, represents for the young people of Selegas an unrepeatable opportunity to confront a reality far and different from their own, but at the same time to rediscover the beauty of sharing and mutual help. Not only a religious experience, but a concrete testimony of how love for others can overcome every geographical and cultural barrier. And the Christmas collection, which made it possible to provide the incubator to the hospital, is just one example of the powerful bond that unites the communities of Selegas and Pawaga, two distant realities but united by the thread of solidarity and hope.
