«For months, evidently in the absence of valid arguments, someone has continued to insinuate that the 131 Dir speed camera is irregular. I, who am like St. Thomas and occasionally find the time to put on my engineer's shoes, took the trouble to personally go and measure the distance between the sign and the speed detector». The mayor of Selargius Gigi Concu writes it on his Facebook page, who adds: «And listen, listen: there are just over one thousand and thirteen meters, testified by the surveys carried out with very high precision instruments (the eSurvey E300 pro) which confirmed not only that the minimum distance is widely respected, but even exceeded".

An inspection a few days after the discussion in the City Council of the motion presented by the minority who, after more than 200 convictions for the City, had asked to temporarily turn off the speed camera at the center of the controversy to eliminate the irregularities detected by the justices of the peace. In fact , the reason for condemnation is always the same: the distance between the first warning sign indicating the limit of 80 kilometers per hour and the speed camera itself, which is less - according to the sentences - than one kilometre.

A different figure than that detected by the mayor on the spot. "I'm not saying it, but the numbers - the objective and incontrovertible ones -, unlike the words that lately fuel sterile and instrumental controversies that I believe are wasting everyone's time", adds Concu.

«Among other things, the purpose of the speed camera is to guarantee the safety of motorists, through compliance with the speed limits and to avoid tragedies on a road where too many abuse the accelerator. Contesting it, asking for its removal or shutdown, is equivalent to returning to the dangers of the past, insinuating useless doubts in the citizens who are encouraged to appeal", he says, and concludes: "That said, we will appeal whenever necessary, continuing to demonstrate with the facts that lies don't make a good impression and are counterproductive for those who tell them and for those who believe in them".
