On 17 February 2016, four men broke into the home of Mario Gessa, 73 years old at the time, in Selargius .

The man, who died in 2018, was bound, beaten and gagged . The criminals were then given the keys to the safe from which they had stolen four rifles and a pistol duly reported by the victim , as well as the small sum of 60 euros.

At the conclusion of the investigations carried out by the Carabinieri of Quartu, Selargius and Ris, the Gip of the Court of Cagliari signed the order for pre-trial detention in prison against a 70-year-old from Mogorella detained in Uta for sexual assault on a minor . The man (AM) is accused of the crimes of aggravated robbery in competition, personal injuries in competition and illegal carrying of firearms in competition.

During the investigation, the carabinieri had then found two DNA fingerprints attributable to the perpetrators of the robbery on the bedroom wardrobe door and, near the house, along the robbers' escape route, a latex glove that was perhaps lost in the escape and the pillowcase used to transport the loot.

Hence the investigations by the RIS Carabinieri of Cagliari : from the comparison of the fingerprints with the genotypic profiles present in the national database, initially nothing had emerged. Then the turning point: a compatibility with the papillary fingerprints of a brother of the arrested person.

Subsequent investigations have now resulted in the issuance of a restraining order requested against the Mogorella pensioner by the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Cagliari.
