Almost three thousand more civilians ready to be reached by fiber. The national digitization carried out by Tim also continues in Selargius.
After the investment of three million last year which allowed the launch of an innovative cabling plan intended to bring optical fiber to around 6700 real estate units, the telecommunications company is once again betting on the city in the Cagliari hinterland - included among the Sardinian municipalities protagonists of the technological breakthrough envisaged by the Pnrr - with a new allocation of one million two hundred thousand euros.
«It is the second major investment in the area by Tim, which will allow us, once the works are completed, to offer our community a fundamental infrastructural modernization, especially in times in which the speed of the network becomes increasingly precious in everyday life and mainly in the workplace», comments the mayor Gigi Concu , at the end of the meeting with Francesca Petriacci, head of the central Italy area who arrived from Rome, Francesco Castia, head of Operation Sardinia, and a Tim delegation at the town hall. An appointment to take stock of the work currently in progress.
«These are - continues Concu - interventions that in a regional context characterized by serious infrastructural gaps, especially in the innermost areas, where in times of lockdown too many Sardinian children have had enormous and unacceptable difficulties with distance learning, are of even greater, which goes beyond my understandable interest in the city I administer".
Also present was the councilor for technological services, Gigi Gessa : «The works in the area are proceeding according to the established times», he assures. "Thanks to the second investment, some areas initially excluded from the infrastructure will also be included in the digitization project as they are considered unattractive in economic terms for telecommunications operators".
"The start of the interventions envisaged by the Italy 1 Giga Plan in Selargius - underlines Francesco Castia , TIM's Field Operations Line Sardinia Manager - represents an important stage in the digitization process of this territory which will have a modern TLC infrastructure, on a par with that of the great Italian cities. We have already started wiring the San Lussorio, Santu Nicola, Don Orione and other areas and work will soon begin in the city centre, starting from via San Martino and via Roma, continuing in the central area and then in the neighboring areas towards the outside. In addition to FTTH coverage, we will increase the capacity of some radio base stations to enhance 5G coverage in the municipality. As a Tim Group we are particularly proud to make our skills available to the local area to accelerate the digital transition and support the growth of the local economy".
