A composed grief. Tears for Nicola Salis, who is no longer with us, while prayers are being said for his cousin William, who is fighting for his life after the tragic accident Monday evening on Via del Lavoro, in Selargius. Today, an emotional farewell was said in the parish of Santissimo Salvatore, which barely managed to contain relatives, friends, and an entire community united in embracing the deceased boy and his family.

Standing before the cream-colored coffin, bearing a photo of a smiling Nicola, are his father Sandro, mother Michela, sister Melania, and beloved grandmother Lidia. Everyone is present, moved but silent, still in disbelief for their son, brother, and grandson who has been gone since Monday.

Father Vittorio Quaranta, parish priest of the church in Piazza Don Orione, sought to offer comfort to the boy's family and friends with his homily: "In these 27 years, Nicola wasn't a boy who wasted time; he lived each day without putting off until tomorrow. And if there's one way to remember your son," he said, addressing the parents, "it is for you, together with Melania, to become the continuators of this boy's dreams. An invitation I extend to all his family, friends, and the many young people present here today."

At the end of the mass, the farewell was held in the churchyard, with the release of white balloons and a long round of applause, before Nicola's final journey to the cemetery.
