A crackdown has been launched at Alberti High School following October's student protests: management has announced possible repercussions on behavior grades for mass absences, while the issue of the denial of a school assembly remains unresolved. This is compounded by student complaints about the five classrooms in the main building on Viale Colombo that have been unusable for months and the lack of a timetable for renovations.

In a circular dated October 13, entitled " Student strikes - notice to families ," school principal Roberto Bernardini recalled the absences recorded on October 8, 12, and 13, emphasizing the consequences for the regular conduct of lessons.

In the document, the principal states that the strike actions are not intended for students and constitute a violation of school regulations . He also announces that "group absences from school will be evaluated by the School Boards for the purpose of assigning the conduct grade in the first four months ," warning that any continuation of the protests will result in further measures.

Student protests are erupting over structural issues at the main campus, where, according to reports, five classrooms have been unusable for months. Students are demanding concrete answers regarding the timing of repairs and report that the requests submitted to the Metropolitan Council on October 12th have not received a response.

The demonstrations took place over several days: Thursday, October 8, with absences decided independently by students as part of the demonstrations involving several schools in Cagliari, and Monday, October 12, and Tuesday, October 13, with demonstrations announced by school representatives in a press release issued on October 11. According to information gathered, the October 13 demonstration took place peacefully in the Su Siccu pine forest next to the school, from 8:15 to 10:00 a.m. According to students at the Alberti school, the rioters were students from other schools.

Further questions are being raised by the rejection of the request to convene the school assembly in October . According to a message (a chat reply) sent by representatives to students, the denial was motivated by the fact that the assembly is not necessarily held every year in that month and by the three days of classes lost due to the protests.

The message reportedly revealed student discontent. The reasons are contested in light of the school regulations, which establish the requirements for submitting the request without expressly excluding the month of October. Legislative Decree 297 of 1994, which recognizes students' right to hold an assembly, is also invoked. The students therefore seek clarification on the rejection of the meeting, which was convened specifically to discuss the issues that gave rise to the protest .

The principal's circular defines collective absences as strikes, while students maintain that at least the October 13th initiative was a demonstration announced by school representatives. The distinction also appears relevant with respect to potential disciplinary consequences.

In the same circular, the director refers to a proposal to launch a new sports program dedicated to sailing and maritime sports , which would have been supported by the Metropolitan City of Cagliari. The project is presented as an opportunity to ensure greater stability and prestige for the high school in the coming years.

However, the issue of the five unusable classrooms remains unresolved . The prospect of a new direction doesn't clarify when the unusable spaces will be restored, nor what specific interventions are planned. And tensions at the Alberti remain high.
