Today, on the occasion of the national day of education and prevention against violence against health and social-health workers, Nicola Addis, president of the Order of Doctors and Dentists of the province of Sassari, recalled how verbal and physical attacks in compared to the category is an ever-increasing phenomenon and which concerns all personnel committed to protecting the health of citizens.

"It is precisely the personnel involved in the emergency sector and in particular the female staff - underlines Addis - who are the object of all types of violence, from verbal to physical". One of the prevention initiatives envisages the establishment or strengthening of the police post in the Emergency Departments. "Above all, it is striking that many episodes are not reported for the most disparate reasons - observes Addis - perhaps so as not to harm those who have not posed any problems".

As president of the Order of Doctors of the Province of Sassari, he launches an appeal for action to be taken on the punishment, prevention and education of citizens. "An important element becomes that of being able to respond adequately and promptly to the health needs of those who turn to health facilities", he adds. "So this is the appeal to health decision makers to focus all their efforts on this aspect".
