Sassari, the Sardinian Cavalcade number 72 is the first with an artistic director

Two days of real entertainment, with lots of new features. They were announced by Mayor Campus and Councilor for Culture Useri in presenting the Sardinian Cavalcade number 72 , which will be held in Sassari on Sunday 21 May with an important prologue on Saturday.
" For the first time we are relying on an artistic director , because this event is not religious and must be managed like a show that costs 560,000 euros," explained Mayor Campus. The artistic director is Giuliano Marongiu , an expert in Sardinian folklore and traditions, who announced the changes made to give rhythm to the event: «The 60 groups will parade not divided by provinces, but in alphabetical order, and towards the end a large group will be created of 150 women with the traditional clothing of the different countries. Furthermore, on Saturday evening various Sardinian artists will alternate and duet on stage: from Benito Urgu to Tazenda, from Collage to Maria Giovanna Cherchi . The list is really large and we will also have some surprises».
It is nothing new, but a welcome return, that of the pairs at the racecourse, which will be organized by the Sassarese Horse Racing Society on Sunday afternoons starting at 5 pm, with six groups for a total of 23 riders and amazons : Oristano, Silì, Logudoresa (Thiesi and Ittiri), Donigala, Santa Giusta and San Quirico.
On Sunday evening, in Piazza d'Italia, the show of Sardinian dances and music with the groups.
