An iron locomotive, symbol of two popular neighborhoods of Sassari : Latte Dolce and Santa Maria di Pisa. It is located in Largo Baratz, right on the border between the two large districts. Donated a few years ago to the Municipality of Sassari, the old locomotive has fallen into sad oblivion: without maintenance for years.

The conditions of the engine in recent months have considerably worsened. All parts show signs of neglect and are invaded more and more by rust . If no action is taken immediately, the symbol of the neighborhoods will be difficult to recover.

"The locomotive is becoming a monument to the decay and abandonment of our districts by the institutions - says Danilo Farina, member of the Latte Dolce and Santa Maria di Pisa district committee -. It seems almost useless to remember how many times we have asked all the institutions on the subject. . Nobody intervened and it is really sad and disheartening to see such an important symbol reduced in these conditions. But it is also necessary to remember - he concludes - that the great locomotive is dedicated to all the truck drivers who have fallen on the job. This accentuates our disappointment ".
