Sassari, prisoner attacks two policemen with a fire extinguisher
The injured officers were taken to the emergency room
Yet another attack in the Sassari prison of Bancali .
An Italian prisoner, after insulting the staff of the prison police, grabbed a fire extinguisher and lashed out at the policemen .
The episode took place yesterday afternoon, while the inmate was being accompanied to his room for the night, a normal service activity aimed at guaranteeing internal security. Only thanks to the promptness and professionalism of the agents was it possible to avoid the worst . The inmate was not happy with the action and threatened the staff heavily, telling them that he would disfigure his face with boiling oil as soon as he had the opportunity.
Two police officers suffered injuries , so it was necessary to accompany them to the Sassari emergency room.
«This situation in the Istituto di Bancali is no longer tolerable, - underlines Roberto Melis, national secretary of the autonomous PolGiust trade union, - we ask for the immediate removal of the prisoner in order to prevent him from carrying out the threats made towards our staff, at the same time we appeal to all institutions, including political ones, so that the Penitentiary Police is finally equipped with those anti-aggression means with which the other Police Forces are equipped".
