The financial police seized hundreds of counterfeit glasses that were being sold on the beaches of the north west of the island.

The blitz was triggered in recent days, when the financiers of the provincial command of Sassari identified a man returning from a well-known coastal location carrying some envelopes loaded with counterfeit sunglasses.

The subsequent house search allowed the military to find about 300 pairs of glasses bearing the distinctive signs of the most famous fashion houses. At that point, the Sassari group's financiers denounced the person responsible for receiving stolen goods and trade in products with false signs.

The operation in recent days represents only the latest in a series of checks by the Sassari Finance Police to combat counterfeiting and trade in unsafe products, which damage the market and steal work from companies in good standing.
