Sassari: Electrician crushed to death in workplace tragedy

Workplace death in Sassari. Around 11:00 a.m., an electrician died inside the Gruppo Dac Alimentare Sarda warehouse, located on Strada 8, in the Predda Niedda industrial area.

According to an initial reconstruction, the victim, Ettore Garau, 56, from Sassari, was carrying out maintenance work on the electrical system, at height, inside a basket, when during a maneuver of the forklift he was crushed against a beam.

On-site personnel from the Carabinieri Labor Inspectorate Unit, Carabinieri from the Sassari Company, Spresal Sassari inspectors and the Fire Brigade.

The Judicial Authority has ordered the seizure of the portion of the warehouse where the accident occurred, as well as the vehicle. The prosecutor in charge of the investigation is Giovanni Porcheddu, who will order the autopsy, which will be performed by Dr. Valentina Piredda.
