The waiting times for the renewal of special licenses in northern Sardinia have gone from the three months recorded in June 2022 to the current ten days .

The coroner's commission of the ASL of Sassari , which guarantees the service, succeeded in the small miracle .

«We are all victims of the multiple extensions of the pandemic that have led to the accumulation and concentration of the expirations of the licenses in the same period - explains Salvatore Lorenzoni , director of the complex structure of Forensic medicine of the health company - To meet this important request we have increased the activity , doubling the processed paperwork, which today has allowed us to reduce the wait between the booking and the issuance of the driving permit".

Current numbers speak of 600 practices per month , reduction of waiting lists which amount to ten days for driving permits, and 20% of practices that have to go back to the committee because they lack the required documentation.

In 2022, the body renewed around 3,700 licenses: 1,200 in the first half of the year, doubling in the second to reach 2,500 renewals. In January 2023, 500 licenses were renewed, as many in February: to these must be added the suspended licenses, pending integration of the documentation.

In the first month of the year, 52 licenses were suspended because they lacked mandatory certification, against 103 in February.
