Was she exploiting prostitution or not? This is the question at the center of the discussion, yesterday in court in Sassari, of the deputy prosecutor Maria Paola Asara in the trial of a seventy-year-old from Sassari.

The man, an engineering graduate, was accused of having rented an apartment he owned to prostitutes in the Monte Rosello district with mostly short-term rental contracts. The comings and goings of men, who went there after reading the adverts on dating sites, and the sounds of sexual activity, had provoked a reaction from the condominium owners who had complained to the professional.

The police subsequently intervened and, having ascertained what was happening within the walls, seized the property. For the prosecutor, the defendant's objective of earning from rent was clear but, in his opinion, proof was not reached that the seventy-year-old had rented the apartment to transform it into a brothel and there are doubts about the possibility of aiding and abetting the activity.

However, the accusation of tolerance remains because, according to the deputy prosecutor, the man, defended by the lawyer Gabriele Satta, was in any case aware of what was happening and, indeed, tolerated it.

For this reason he asked for him to be sentenced to two years and a 500 euro fine, the minimum penalty foreseen. The panel, chaired by Giancosimo Mura, alongside Monia Adami and Sara Pelicci, adjourned for replies and sentence.
