The Center for the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy of the developmental age of Child Neuropsychiatry, of the Aou of Sassari, kicks off the Epilepsy Open Day, an opportunity to undergo preventive visits and instrumental tests and to receive information on epileptic diseases.

The initiative is scheduled for Wednesday 22 February, from 9 to 18. In Sardinia there are about 12,000 people with epilepsy and over 6,000 patients who suffer from it in their developmental age.

The Aou Epilepsy Center in Sassari, recognized as a third-level medical center for the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies in childhood, represents a point of reference for around 2,000 patients in central-northern Sardinia.

«Epilepsy - says Dr. Susanna Casellato, head of the Center, an integral part of the Child Neuropsychiatry directed by Professor Stefano Sotgiu -, is one of the most common neurological diseases in the developmental age and with different degrees of severity, which can be attributable to different etiologies, genetic, structural, metabolic, often multifactorial».

The Center will carry out electroencephalographic recordings for epileptic disease, or suspected epileptic disease, and initial visits. Payment of the ticket is required, therefore it is necessary to contact the structure on 079 229322. An information point will also be available with free access where experts will answer questions from users.
