The city map is being redrawn for Sa Sartiglia. With the historic center under lockdown, large parking areas on the outskirts, and buses with modified routes, traffic will undergo a major revolution from Sunday to Tuesday.
From 7:00 a.m. until further notice, traffic and parking restrictions, with forced removal, will be in place in large areas of the city center. The restrictions will affect Via Figoli, Vico Tirso, Vico Verdi (including the paid parking area), Vico Mazzini, Vico Angioy, Via Crispi, and sections of Via Verdi. A temporary one-way system will be implemented on Via Verdi itself, heading toward Via Donizetti, to regulate traffic exiting the race area.
On the two main days of the carousel, starting at 8:00 a.m., all vehicles will be closed on Via Cagliari, between Gennargentu/Amsicora and Via Tharros. Parking will also be prohibited on Via XX Settembre, between Via Diaz and Via Cagliari, to prevent traffic jams and allow for safety corridors. From 2:00 p.m., traffic and parking will also be prohibited in Piazza Mariano and along Via Mariano IV, where emergency vehicles and operational stations will be positioned.
Starting Saturday and continuing until the morning of February 18th, the parking lot behind the Courthouse, on Via San Francesco, designated for the advanced medical unit, will be closed. The ban also extends to Piazza Aldo Moro and the surrounding area.
For those arriving from out of town, the plan identifies 4,276 parking spaces: 720 at the Porta Nuova shopping center, 300 in the unpaved area near the INPS (National Institute of Social Security), 300 between Via Lussu and Viale Repubblica (both also suitable for bus parking), as well as hundreds of spaces distributed across Via Campania, Via Umbria, Via Sardegna, and other neighborhoods not directly affected by the demonstration. On Sunday and Tuesday, blue-line parking will be suspended throughout the city, with the exception of the parking facilities on Via Carducci and Via Mariano IV.
On the public transportation front, starting Saturday, the terminus of suburban lines will be relocated to Via Diaz. Line 3 will be suspended for the entire duration of the event, while other urban lines will be diverted to bypass the restricted area around Via Cagliari and the historic center.
