The regional Civil Protection has issued a medium-risk fire bulletin that will affect the Cagliari area and eastern Sardinia tomorrow, Wednesday 3 June.

The alert indicates weather and environmental conditions capable of generating fires of medium intensity and speed of spread . According to the bulletin, any blaze, if addressed promptly, can be fought by ordinary ground forces, possibly supported by the Region's light aircraft.

The operational phase has been set to "attention": this means that the fire services are on heightened vigilance, ready to intervene quickly in the event of an outbreak.

The Civil Protection Department urges citizens and operators to consult the official bulletin, which provides detailed information on: a map of at-risk areas; rules of conduct to adopt to prevent fires; and actions to take if flames or suspicious smoke are sighted.

General recommendations include: do not light fires outdoors, do not throw cigarette butts, and immediately report any fire by calling 1515 (Forestry Corps) or 115 (Fire Brigade).
