Sardinia is ready to greet the last snowflakes , waiting to welcome Spring. The snowfall on Gennargentu last night , above 1400 meters above sea level, could in fact be the last of the season . A winter - the one that the island is preparing to archive and put in the drawer - characterized by mild temperatures - peaks of 14-17 degrees have been recorded on the southern coasts in the central hours of the day - and with little rainfall.

An aspect that has repeatedly raised fears of the return of the ghost of drought , which was then temporarily put aside with the arrival of the latest (albeit few) rains. Today the regional civil protection alert for rain and thunderstorms ends - with over 24 mm on the Limbara in Gallura - but starting from the evening there will be an improvement «which will be very gradual - the weather office of the Air Force in Decimomannu (Cagliari) -. There will be a consolidation of the high pressure area coming from North Africa in Central Europe and the Mediterranean, with an increase in temperatures starting tomorrow of 1 or 2 degrees: we are not experiencing a typical spring condition but temperatures gradually rise in the next days".

There will be an increase from Sunday 17th with peaks of 4-5 degrees higher up to 21 and 22 degrees in the south of the island . «From Monday , however, we will see a more significant increase in temperatures with the arrival of the Azores anticyclone », the Air Force further explains.
