Air traffic increased in Sardinia for the Christmas and New Year holidays, with almost 360 thousand passengers estimated and the Cagliari airport growing by 5-6% and those of Olbia and Alghero by as much as 15%.

The boom in Northern Sardinia where from December 21st to Epiphany there is an estimated flow of 122,500 passengers , for a total of 833 flights and an offer of approximately 148,000 seats, with an increase of +15% compared to last year's holidays.

Specifically, at the Alghero airport approximately 50,500 passengers are expected , for a total of 330 movements and an offer of over 60,000 seats. At the Olbia airport, traffic is estimated at over 72,000 passengers, for a total of 503 movements and an offer of 87,500 seats. In Cagliari, however, the estimated travelers are 233 thousand travelers.

The data was provided by the regional councilor for Transport Barbara Manca : "We have recorded - explained Manca - an increase in flights in continuity with the exception of Cagliari-Linate. In this last case we intervened with an adjustment of the schedules - continued Manca - We are proceeding methodically by unloading the load factor to have constant monitoring of the situation: this did not happen before. It should be noted that our objective is not to have as many flights as possible, but to adapt the offer to the demand".

Air traffic is also being driven by events organized for New Year's Eve : "Concert venues are reaching full capacity," said the regional councilor for tourism, Franco Cuccureddu , "with hotels that are usually closed that have decided to open."
