Santu Lussurgiu, San Leonardo between neglect and work in progress: the opposition attacks
The village with the seven waterless springs and the closed park: "If there were no internet it would be a desert"Per restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
Neglect, degradation, dirt, the village of San Leonardo is really having a bad time. More and more depopulated, the park closed for redevelopment work, the seven springs without water, public bathrooms closed. If there were no active telephone line and internet it would be a desert. Visitors find only two active commercial activities, one of which opens only on weekends. Heroes, in this desolate land, who at least try to provide some service to tourists and not make them feel lost.
To denounce the desolate scenario of Lussurgesi and many loyal visitors of the beautiful mountain village, once a renowned holiday resort, appreciated throughout the island, but nothing remains of that golden epic.
The opposition in the city council led by Giovanni Matta has repeatedly reported this state of abandonment but has remained unheard: "never before has the mountain village been neglected and without its main attraction, water: it is now an established fact that for the city administration, the visitors to San Leonardo are not welcome. The springs do not provide water and now the park is not accessible due to work in progress. San Leonardo needs major redevelopment, because in 10 years of this administration the village has been progressively degraded. The recovery intervention is welcome to return the village to the fame it has acquired over the years and to restore the decorum it has now lost".
The municipal administration of Diego Loi has recently started several maintenance and redevelopment interventions for the village. A few days ago, the redevelopment work of the historic park began, for 46 thousand euros. Last April, the intervention was to secure part of the park with the pruning and reclamation of fallen plants before Easter, with an allocation of 50 thousand euros. To resolve the problematic issue of the water deficit in the village of San Leonardo, the Loi executive has allocated another 50 thousand euros. The construction work of the purification plant in the village should also begin shortly.
The work in progress at this time, however, raises doubts for Matta: "Why exactly now? Because the redevelopment of the park was not done during low-traffic periods, while today many families are already looking for a bit of coolness. It's strange not to be able to enjoy the renowned spring waters of San Leonardo, because the fountains are dry, while a short distance away the hum of the bottling plants continues to run non-stop. Apparently, for the Loi administration, bottled water with a label is preferable", concludes Matta caustically.
