Urban and architectural redevelopment of Piazza Libertà and arrangement of the pedestrian paths along the areas surrounding the Spanish Tower of Longosardo and connecting to the Rena Bianca beach.

The technical-economic feasibility project, drawn up by the arch. Antonio Dejua, was recently approved by the municipal council of Santa Teresa Gallura . The cost of the works is around 725 thousand euros .

«The project proposal – we read in the report – aims to reinforce the panoramas and views given by the privileged position of the project site, redefining the visual and perceptive relationships».

The interventions will also be aimed at making the square accessible and usable by all categories of users; children, elderly and disabled people .

The intervention in the square will be limited to the area currently used as a car park. The current promenade present on the eastern edge and the green flowerbeds to the north are preserved. And it involves the subdivision of the square itself according to a rhomboidal pattern. In the center, three rhomboidal areas will be arranged, in which water jets will be placed. Two elements will be used for outdoor seating. These will be positioned in front of the buildings overlooking the square, where there are currently some accommodation businesses.

In the north-west corner, a rhomboidal element will take on the function of exiting the lift and stairs of the car park below. In various points of the square - we read in the report - the rhomboidal geometry will take on the function of urban greenery. The land will be cultivated with grass and there will be trees useful for creating shaded areas. There will be sessions. In some points the rhomboidal geometries will take on the function of bodies of water in which the surrounding landscape will be reflected.

As far as materials are concerned, all flooring is designed with 0 km materials, which therefore come exclusively from Sardinian quarries such as granite, marble, trachyte and basalt. The project also involves the creation of new pedestrian paths, which will integrate and complete the existing paths. Panoramic squares will be positioned along them, differently furnished, which will allow the spectator to sit and admire the landscape.

There will be two concentric networks of routes: an internal one, positioned to the west of the Tower; the other external one, which turns towards the Rena bianca beach, then extends along the coastal perimeter, passing through the Roccia dei Maccini, Monti Luganò, Punta Falcone, La Crucittà and finally rejoining the Belvedere of Torre Longonsardo and Via Bechi Luserna, which connects it to the urban centre. In any case, we read in the resolution, that " We are awaiting financial coverage for the completion of the works ."
