No ribbon cutting . But not only that: the work risks being sold at auction . For several days in Santa Giusta everyone has been talking about the head of the Mars Eel which was to be installed a few meters from the tail positioned 12 years ago in front of the Municipality. The craftsman Stefano Piga who created the enormous sculpture, ready for two years now, has still not been paid for the work done. This is why the work will remain inside his laboratory for now.

«Years ago a very specific figure was agreed upon with the Municipality: for three and a half meters 35 thousand euros were available which had been financed by the Sardinia Foundation and another 15 thousand by the Municipality - explains the craftsman - Then, however, during construction the head has taken different measures."

Salvatore Garau, who designed the work, says that the Municipality had given him carte blanche regarding the dimensions. In fact, he went from the initial 3 and a half meters to seven: «This is why I also increased the size - Piga continues - Now, however, I should have double what was initially agreed. I hope someone finds the resources. If I have no news within thirty days the head will be sold at auction or privately. There is already someone who has shown interest."

Meanwhile, the concrete base that the municipal administration built in recent months to house the work, in the large flowerbed close to the large mural dedicated to the fishermen, allocating 30 thousand euros from the municipal budget, is ready. But who knows if it will be used.

Meanwhile, a few days ago the Municipality decided to take action: «We sent the Foundation a written request for another 30 thousand euros - explains the councilor for Public Works Pier Paolo Erbi - If the answer is negative we will find another solution, perhaps through sponsors. The work must be paid for, even if we have not found anything written in the Municipality regarding the agreements of the figures agreed upon years ago".
