It is forbidden to eat on the beach, says the ordinance published by the mayor Ignazio Locci.

There is controversy in Sant'Antioco, where the contents included in the ordinance signed in recent days by the mayor Ignazio Locci are being discussed, which is creating discontent and difficulty of interpretation.

Among these, in fact, there is the ban on eating on the beach ("having a picnic or consuming meals of any kind", under penalty of a fine of up to 500 euros) and on bringing stones to tie up the umbrellas.

«If it can help the application of the rule - says the mayor Ignazio Locci - then yes, I am absolutely against the fact that you eat anything on the beach. However, it must be said that we have not deviated from the provisions of the regional ordinance and that the problem is exactly the opposite. We continue to see lunches by the sea with "Fantozzi style" banquets with huge watermelons, lasagna and breaded slices. I agree that the ban may appear exaggerated, but in appealing to the common sense of those who must be vigilant, our eyes have often been closed on too many fronts". It is a pity that this is not specified in the ordinance.
