Sand stolen from Is Arutas for sale on Ebay, auctioned by a German citizen.
An action that certainly did not go unnoticed, so much so that the mayor of Cabras Andrea Abis turned to the carabinieri and the Oristano prosecutor's office to block the sale and take measures against "this environmental vandal and vile speculator who operates from Germany ».
«The removal of sand from the beaches of Is Arutas, Mari Ermi and Maimoni is unfortunately an ever present problem, and it is our intention to counter it in any way - says the mayor -. The quartz sand of Is Arutas for speculative sale on the Internet is truly unbearable. I hope that the Public Prosecutor's Office will be able to block these criminals and in case we will ask them to pay a hefty bill".
The first fines of the season for the theft of sand and shells from Is Arutas were also triggered during the August bank holiday: four tourists, two Italians and two Danes, were stopped by the local police, and a thousand euro fine was imposed for them .
