On January 25, Elvira Usai, mayor of San Giovanni Suergiu, issued a special ordinance by virtue of the increases in positive coronavirus cases, in order to counter the spread of the infection. Among the suspended activities there were also "all forms of playful and recreational activities, events and parties (both public and private) both outdoors and inside school buildings, sports facilities, gyms and playrooms", as well as " the prohibition of gathering near public areas (parks, squares, public spaces, etc.) ", and the obligation to wear masks even outdoors.

But yesterday, according to the urgent interpellation presented by the minority council group "We are SGS" made up of Eloise Carboni, Antonio Fanni, Erika Floris, Mario Cocco and Eliano Locci, Usai herself would have participated in a trekking event "which took place , in the presence of a group, along the path no. 24 of the Santa Barbara path which, starting from the municipality of Tratalias, arrives at the municipality of Sant'Antioco, crossing the municipality of San Giovanni Suergiu ".

The group underlines that there are "photographic testimonies, made public on social networks by the participants themselves", which portray the mayor "with a group of people making up the gathering, in the square in front of the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Palmas Vecchio, a municipal area subject to restrictions provided for by the ordinance ". Therefore: "Participation in the activity and its very organization constitute a serious violation of the ordinance in total disregard of the institutional role it covers".

For this reason, "We are SGS" now asks that, as a matter of urgency, be reported about the interpellation and the behaviors encountered.
