An escape that lasted only a few hours : the mobile team of Cagliari identified and arrested the perpetrators of the violent robbery carried out on Tuesday in the tobacco shop in via Riva Villasanta , in Pirri .

The 28 year old Alexander Kapitonov , a former Russian boxer and soldier with numerous previous records , and the 23 year old Romanian Manuel Lacatus ended up in handcuffs .   Both have long been residents of Sardinia. The two were arrested for aggravated robbery in competition .

They were nailed by the footage of the cameras that immortalized the car used for the getaway and some testimonies collected by the investigators of the mobile team.

THE RECONSTRUCTION – On Tuesday morning at 9, the two entered the "Al tabacchi di su" tobacconist's shop in via Riva Villasanta. They wore caps that only partially covered their faces. They asked the owner, Daniel Deplano, 41, to see some toys for sale then threatened him by pointing a box cutter they had found on the counter at him . One of the bandits attacked the 41-year-old, hitting him in the face with a few punches . The man was injured and suffered a broken nose and head trauma .

The two then detached the cash box, which contained 200 euros, and left the tobacco shop, fleeing in a car .

The mobile team, coordinated by the manager Fabrizio Mustaro, immediately started the investigation.

THE INVESTIGATIONS – By viewing the footage from the cameras in the area and hearing some witnesses, the investigators were able to identify the car used for the getaway. The car was identified in Sant'Elia on Tuesday night by the agents of the flying squad.

Investigators set a trap for the bandits. They followed the car all day yesterday, first in Cagliari and then in Villasimius, until they identified the two alleged authors of the robbery and blocked them .

During the searches, La Mobile recovered the caps that the two wore during the robbery, some burglary tools and balaclavas.
