After a long wait and many protests, work has finally begun on the construction of the ''Garden of Memory'' which in Rigopiano (Pescara) will remember the 29 victims of the disastrous avalanche of 18 January 2017. The monument donated by the community of Orosei , on the initiative of the socio-cultural music association , chaired by Toni Diana .
In the town of Baronie, immediately after the tragedy, there was a fundraiser and the monument, depicting a Madonna and 29 memorial stones, was created by the sculptor Mario Mula . But unfortunately, due to bureaucratic delays, it remained in a warehouse for over six years.
Now, just as the appeal sentence was just a few days ago with 8 convictions and 22 acquittals, the positioning of the monument inside the ''Garden of Memory'' has begun. A special thanks was addressed to the community of Orosei by the ''Victims of Rigopiano'' association.
