"It's untrue that a rat infestation occurred at the clinic, nor that the Local Health Authority (ASL) ignored the reports from the outpatient clinic doctors. On the contrary, the relevant department took immediate action to resolve the problem."
This is the response from the Oristano Local Health Authority (ASL) after Uras Mayor Samuele Fenu issued an urgent order yesterday, Sunday, October 26, for the immediate relocation of the medical center to the premises at number 9 of Via Roma, a building that formerly housed the middle school. This was for reasons of hygiene, health, and public safety, and to ensure the continuity of medical services given the presence of rats, which, according to him, had also been reported by doctors to the Mogoro Carabinieri station. Fenu also specified in the order that it had been impossible to contact the ASL representatives.
But the health authority isn't having it: "The primary care physician on duty at the Uras clinic, on Friday, October 24, at 12:52 PM, reported via email to the ASL offices of the Ales-Terralba district the presence of a single mouse, not multiple mice, at the Uras primary care clinic," the ASL statement reads. Upon receiving the report, ASL staff immediately sent a request to the Province of Oristano to investigate the animal's presence and, if necessary, clean up the facility. The request was sent via certified email at 1:28 PM on Friday. As for the mayor of Uras, it appears he didn't contact the National Health Service offices, but the Ascot offices, which are not operational via landlines on Friday afternoon. On Sunday, the mayor spoke with the facility's director for hospital-territory integration."
