The funds of the Pnrr in Italy to be allocated to railway lines have reached all the Italian regions. But at the bottom of the list, with the least funding, there is Sardinia . If many billions are destined for the South of the country, for the Island the figures do not follow the trend: only one and a half billion. But if "it is true that Sardinia has been almost completely ignored in the railway projects regarding the Pnrr, it was also necessary to have projects ready and to be able to implement them by 2026", explains the deputy of Fratelli d'Italia and president of the Transport Commission of the Chamber Salvatore Deidda.
"Over the years we have erased the railway tradition, treated Ferrovie like an unwanted guest, witnessed the cancellation of a jewel like Keller or suspended freight transport by rail but we are reversing the focus. There is a continuous dialogue with the management class of the Ferrovie Group and we are working to have the necessary attention to start establishing Fs Security in Sardinia too but we are working for the Nuoro connection project and not only that".
«Beyond Cagliari - Oristano, we must complete the electrification of the entire network, we need route variations and doubling where possible (Villaspeciosa Decimomannu) or eliminate all level crossings with speeding up passages in the station», concludes a representative of FdI.
