Councilor Doria returns to the case of radiotherapy in Nuoro and of the patient invited to be treated outside the Region , and clarifies: «The Government's response to the parliamentary question presented by the PD confirms what we have supported from the beginning: on radiotherapy in Sardinia there is no emergency, treatment is guaranteed and there is no situation that requires Sardinian citizens who have to undergo treatment to have to turn to centers outside the island."

The clarification came yesterday from the undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Marcello Gemmato , during Question time and in response to the parliamentary question promoted by some PD deputies on the Nuoro radiotherapy case.

«In his speech – underlines Councilor Doria – the Undersecretary for Health specified how the news regarding the need to contact the centers of the Peninsula, due to the impossibility of carrying out radiotherapy treatments in Sardinia in compliance with the times outlined by the guidelines, is devoid of any foundation. This provides correct information on a very delicate topic. Radiotherapy treatments on the island are safe and guaranteed , today stating the opposite is unfair towards cancer patients and their families and has the only result of raising alarm on those who already have to face the suffering and anguish of the disease, but it is equally unfair towards the healthcare workers who work on the front line every day with professionalism and a spirit of service."

«The technological modernization of radiotherapy in Businco has inevitably had an impact which, thanks to a concerted organizational effort from the entire regional health system, we are managing as best we can, despite the staff shortages. Soon the new equipment will come into operation and the new technologies will allow effective treatments in fewer sessions with enormous benefits for patients", concludes councilor Doria.

In the meantime, the battle of the sick continues. In recent days the intervention of the disabled people's association of Nuoro had specified: "We will not be intimidated".
