A complaint about the basil supplied - not fresh - degenerates and the inmate goes into a rage, kicking and punching a prison police officer .

It happened in the Tempio prison and the worst was averted thanks to the providential intervention of another agent who contained the inmate's aggressive fury with many difficulties.

Eventually, the two policemen involved reported bruises and swelling with a prognosis of 10 days of treatment .

The secretary general of the UIL PA Penitentiary Police of Sardinia Michele Cireddu denounced the fact: "They were moments of tension and extremely excited - he explains -, the prisoner began to protest as he said he received the basil that was not fresh from the external company that provides food and, while the agent reassured him by specifying that he would report to the company for any replacement or reimbursement, attacked him in a brutal and sudden manner "

"It is another episode of violence - adds Cireddu - which is repeated after the serious attack against a policeman who suffered a real kidnapping by a prisoner who had used a rudimentary knife, and even on that occasion it was The intervention of a superintendent who managed to mediate and obtain the agent's release was providential ”.

“By now - continues Cireddu - these episodes are certifying that the presence of the State in territories considered uncomfortable and border is not tangible. If we consider the dizzying increase in attacks against agents, it seems that the detainees have perceived the sense of impunity with respect to actions of extreme violence. This should have raised an alarm bell but in fact it only generates indifference both from the top of the Administration and from the politics that certainly does not demonstrate that it cares about the fate of a State Police Corps that remains literally abandoned " .

"On the other hand, in the Temple Institute, it seems instead there is recourse to disciplinary proceedings against agents also for reasons that certainly do not represent the last resort", concludes Cireddu. "This personnel management has generated tension, discontent and a feeling of discouragement and it is a personnel management that we will continue to contest until concrete interventions arrive".
