"Organizational challenges." For this reason, the health management of the San Giuseppe Hospital in Isili has ordered the Emergency Room to be closed today and tomorrow, October 4th and 5th, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. This is a temporary decision , but it " represents a dramatic situation that cannot continue ."
Gianfranco Angioni, a representative of USB Sanità, denounced the situation. "It is unacceptable ," Angioni explains, "that the three emergency rooms in the metropolitan area —Brotzu, Santissima Trinità, and Policlinico Universitario— are taking on such a high number of patients , creating unsustainable workloads for medical and nursing staff, and all the professionals involved in healthcare settings. This situation not only compromises the quality of care , but also puts the lives of the citizens who rely on these services at risk ."
The warning is accompanied by a direct request to the regional health councillor , Bartolazzi, to "urgently address the situation", underlining that " healthcare workers are already under pressure and the exponential increase in requests for assistance is only intensifying the difficulties".
"We are facing a disaster waiting to happen ," Angioni concludes, "which threatens the entire regional healthcare system. Citizens have the right to receive adequate and timely care, and political decisions that lead to a permanent state of emergency cannot be made. The councilor has a duty to find urgent and lasting solutions, ensuring that everyone can access the emergency room without fear of closed doors or unbearably long waits."
